Introducing: Jaeger LeCoultre Polaris Collection

Founded in 1833 by Antoine LeCoultre, Jaeger LeCoultre is a popular Swiss watch and clock manufacturer. Jaeger LeCoultre is based in Le Sentier, Switzerland and has made hundreds of watches and thousands of calibres, including the world’s smallest calibre. Let’s take a look at some notable watch models from the brand’s Polaris collection.

Jaeger LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin

Released in 2013, the Jaeger LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin watch features a beautiful black sunray-brushed dial in stainless steel. It has a case measuring 39mm in diameter (which is comparatively bigger than the ones produced in the late 1990s and early 2000s) and 9.2mm in thickness.

The case comes with sapphire crystals on both sides. In addition, it is equipped with a dial layout that has been rotated 180 degrees. The movement it uses is JLC calibre 868.

A member of the Master Ultra-Thin family, the Jaeger Lecoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon watch debuted at SIHH 2012. The watch features beautiful dial variations in 3 options – rose gold with an eggshell beige dial, rose gold with a slate dial, and stainless steel with a silver dial. The case measures 39mm in diameter and 9.9mm in height. What distinguishes it from other JLC watches is its moon-phase sub-dial at the 6 o’clock position. With its calibre 925, it contains 30 jewels and has a 43-hour power reserve.

Among all the Jaeger LeCoultre watches, Polaris watches are the ones that can function as both a sports watch and a dress watch. The collection is based on the Memovox Polaris watch which launched in 1968. But of course, the Polaris collection now has modern specifications and characteristics.

In 2018, Jaeger LeCoultre released 5 new models of the Polaris collection at the SIHH exhibition. Among the 5 models, one is a limited edition which celebrates Memovox’s 50th anniversary.

Although there is no date display, the dial has the basic three hands. Furthermore, besides the leather strap, the model is also available in a stainless steel bracelet. The watch also features an automatic mechanical movement with a JLC calibre of 898/1. Its power reserve can last up to 40 hours and it is water-resistant up to 100-metres.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph WorldTimer is the perfect combination of a chronograph and a world timer. It is ideal for frequent travellers who need to pass through more than one timezone.

Along with its crown and two pushers, the Chronograph WorldTimer watch features a second crown. This crown allows you to set the time of the city you are currently in and read the time of 23 other cities around the globe.

The JLC watch comes with a large case size of 44mm, which makes it easy to read. In addition, it uses calibre 752 for its movement and has a power reserve of up to 65 hours.

Jaeger LeCoultre Polaris Date

The Jaeger LeCoultre Polaris Date looks very much like the original model made in 1968. It features a triangle along with the trapezoidal index. Furthermore, the dial uses Hindu-Arabic numerals for 6, 9 and 12 with a date window at the 3 o’clock position.

To replicate its original look, the sapphire crystal mirrors the Plexi crystals from the original model. Not only that, the back case also comes with an engraving which is almost identical to that of its 1968 model.

This JLC watch model has a case size measuring 42mm and is available in rubber strap or a stainless steel bracelet. It features the Jaeger LeCoultre automatic mechanical movement of calibre 899/1,  has a power reserve of 38 hours, and is water-resistant up to 200-metres.

The Jaeger LeCoultre Polaris Memovox is the contemporary version of the 1968 Polaris watch. It is limited to only 1000 pieces. Bearing a similar look of that of the 1968 version, this Jaeger LeCoultre watch has a lot of vintage elements.

The watch comes with more than 3 crowns, each with a respective function. One is to operate the inner bezel, the second one is for appropriating the correct time on the watch, and the third one is for setting the alarm.

With a JLC automatic mechanical movement of calibre 956, it can be considered a successor of the brand’s very first automatic watch which was introduced in the 1950s. Other features of the watch include a power reserve of 44 hours and water-resistance of up to 200-metres. This model also comes with a rubber strap.
