Zenith's voyage in aviation industry began in the year 1909 when French aviator Louis Blériot became the first man to fly across the English Channel.

This timepiece adorned on his wrist flaunted the word “special” marked on its dial and was a characterized with the chrome-plated case with fixed lugs, black enamel dial with large Arabic numerals and a protruding crown. These early Zenith pilot watches featured the black enamel dials, large Arabic numerals, and a dome-shaped protruding crown.
