History of Jaeger LeCoultre Watches

The foundation of the watch company LeCoultre was laid in 1833 by the brothers Charles Antoine LeCoultre and François Ulysse LeCoultre in the Vallée de Joux. Antoine was a brilliant craftsman who always kept on honing his skills to develop new manufacturing processes and production methods for the timepieces. In 1884 Antoine made history by creating the first instrument to measure the micron. Just three years later he pitched another revolutionary invention, the crown winding mechanism - a system that dispenses the need to use a key in order to rewind and set watches.

In four short years, LeCoultre was awarded the gold medal at 1st World Exhibition in London for his exquisitely crafted gold chronometer.
